EECA warm up New Zealand program causes dangerous mould problem and hospitalisation
EECA's insulation program which heavily discounted or in some cases provided for free home insulation has caused dangerous mould issues.
The insulation which helps to keep homes warm also traps more moisture in the buildings and huge mould problems have developed in bedrooms and living areas and have been responsible for hospitalisation of tenants and home owners.
Laters of moisture is pushed into the home from cooking, showers/baths, perspiration, breathing and humidity and needs to be managed by more than open windows which allow more damp back in with outdoor VOC.
Passive ventilation filters dry air from the roof cavity by grabbing from the apex as dryer air is lighter than wet air and rises. It then forces it into the home promoting air changes inside the home pushing out the old damp smelly air thus keeping the home dryer healthier which stops mould growth which needs damp and shaded areas.
The insulation needs the ventilation to be able to insulate what it should heat in winter and cool air in summer, not damp and contaminated air which make us sick and damages or property.
